The vessel belonged to the East-India Trading Company who entrusted it under the leadership of merchant sailor Captain Jack Sparrow. The Wicked Wench was a large three-masted ship which carried 32 cannons. While the attraction and films seem to share much of their continuity, there are discrepancies such as the case of the Wicked Wench and the Black Pearl which the rides (and non-canonical video-games) reference as existing simultaneously while in the films they are one ship at different points in time. The Wench ransacked Puerto Dorado and burned it to the ground in pursuit of the treasure. The Wench's crew seemed to be rivals with the cunning pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.Īt some point, the Wicked Wench competed with Jack to rob the cursed treasure of the Spanish town Puerto Dorado on the isle Isla Tesoro. The ship was captained by one Captain Hector Barbossa but might have had a connection to the fleet of the historic Edward "Blackbeard' Teach.
